Our client is a growing financial services firm based in the South and they have an immediate need for a VP �?? Audit / Professional Practices Manager who will be responsible for the following:

Provide leadership and management in designing, developing, and executing a robust framework for identifying and evaluating actual and potential risks facing the firm and establishing effective dynamic audit plans and scopes responsive to such risks.  This is a foundational component of a proactive, risk-based audit assurance program for the firm which fulfills the mission, obligations, and expectations of the Audit Committees of the Boards of Directors of the Corporation and various Subsidiaries, and Executive Management, and provides services to other members of management and various external stakeholders, including various regulatory agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time.

1.                Design, implement, direct, and oversee a framework for establishing effective dynamic audit plans and scopes responsive to actual or potential risks facing the firm. 

2.                Design, implement, and execute processes to identify and evaluate actual and potential enterprise-level (cross-LOB, cross-process) risk themes, including themes related to business strategy risks, the setting of appropriate risk appetites.  Ensure development of appropriately responsive audit coverage, plans, and scopes.

3.                Lead aggregation, correlation, and analysis of a robust program of business-monitoring activities designed to identify potential changes impacting the risk profiles of the firm.   Regularly evaluate program results in relation to assessments of risk and ensure risk assessments as well as audit plans and scopes are adjusted when appropriate.

4.                Design, implement, direct, and oversee a framework for evaluating Other Assurance Providers (including Second Line of Defense Areas) to determine the nature and extent that such work may be substituted for work that otherwise would be completed by Audit Services.  Provide first-level approval.

5.                Establish, organize, and lead Audit Services�?? Risk Assessment Governance Council.  Provide counsel, process direction and performance evaluation input to embedded positions reporting to SALT Members.

6.                Identify �??mandated procedures�?� through ongoing, comprehensive analysis of relevant professional standards and supervisory guidance.

7.                Lead the process for development of the Corporation�??s Annual Internal Audit Plan.  This includes assuring the completeness of the Audit Universe, leading the annual risk assessment of auditable units in the Audit Universe, and developing the proposed Annual Internal Audit Plan for approval by the Audit Committee.

8.                Lead practice improvement initiatives related to risk assessment, planning and allocation of resources.

9.                Maintain current, relevant Audit Policies, practices, and methodologies aligned with professional standards and supervisory guidance and expectations.

10.            Design, implement, direct, and oversee a framework for �??lessons learned�?� reviews of adverse events (such as significant losses or fraud events) and issues identified in regulatory examinations.  Assess for potential practice improvements.

11.            Lead and/or supervise special projects.

12.            Access a network of audit professionals at other financial institutions, public accounting firms, and professional associations to enable (i) monitoring of trends and developments in banking and financial services, internal audit practice, and risk management practices; (ii) identification of potential enhancements in internal audit practices, processes, and methodologies; and (iii) benchmarking comparisons of Audit Services�?? performance.  Integrate enhancements into professional development programs and the audit process.

13.            Operate within departmental and bank budget and expense guidelines.

Required Skills and Competencies:

1.                Bachelor�??s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent education and related training.

2.                Expert comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate actual and potential risks facing large banks and establishing effective, dynamic audit plans and scopes responsive to such risks.

3.                Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and expertise within a large bank environment in the domains of professional internal auditing, risk management, regulatory supervision and general banking business activities.

4.                Comprehensive experience leading teams in internal auditing within a large bank, in a large bank supervisory regulatory environment, or in public accounting with large bank-related experience.

5.                Excellent ability to influence without authority across all levels of the Audit Services organization as well as the broader firm enterprise and with external stakeholders.

6.                Display a high level of initiative and credibility.

7.                Strong sense of urgency to deliver high-quality outcomes.

8.                Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, facilitation and negotiating skills.

9.                Able to interact directly with Senior Business Leaders, Senior Audit Leadership Team, Audit Managers and audit professionals.

10.            Excellent ability to work in and/or lead teams and make sound decisions.

11.            Excellent ability to work strategically and tactically �?? comfortable seeing and defining the �??big picture�?� while leading and executing detailed work tasks.

12.            Excellent ability to manage projects successfully.

13.            Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft office software products.

14.            Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.

Desired Skills:

1.                Master�??s degree in a business-related field and/or advanced education related to risk management and/or banking supervision.

2.                Professional certification as a CPA, CIA, or CISA.

Salary $130-150k + bonus.
